We are a Seattle-based craft brewery, founded in 2012 and open to the public for the first time in 2013. We make small-batch, artisan beers with an emphasis on quality, approachability, and just a little bit of whimsy. We have fun with our brews, making beer that is meant to be enjoyed surrounded by friends and fresh air. Rooftop began as a “proof of concept” 1-BBL nano-brewery (that’s just 2 kegs per brew!) and commercial tasting room in an industrial garage just off of Nickerson Street in north Queen Anne. Friends Craig, Jess, Parker, Angela and Tyson worked “second shift” after their day jobs to build, brew and tend bar at the small garage tasting room. It wasn’t glamorous--the rooftop was more of an aspiration than a reality. But the crew focused on serving up quality beer without the need for big frills, and gained a devoted following. Shirts that proudly read “I drink beer in the alley behind the 7-11” were an accurate description for our scrappy start. Our current operation is just down the street from the original garage and the 7-11. Our original 1-BBL system is now our pilot system that sits within our 15-BBL production brewery and we now can claim a tasting room on a rooftop. It is everything we envisioned and more. We have our brewery. We have our neighborhood. We have our community.
