Dan Pemberton has been called an “an accidental restaurateur” by those who know him and the tale of how the Pesky Pelican Brewpub came to be. Dan didn’t grow up with aspirations of owning a restaurant. Dan is not a native Floridan. Dan lived in St. Louis Missouri and worked in software development. Dan does have a daughter, Danielle, who has always loved to cook, and Dan himself has been brewing beer for almost 20 years. He has been very involved with local Tampa Bay Area home-brew clubs and craft beer festivals. Long before moving to Florida, father and daughter sat in the basement of their family home in Missouri and sketched up plans for a brewpub. They had a vision of a cozy place where they could serve good beer and great food and most importantly, a casual, family-friendly atmosphere where guests would feel at home. In 2016, Dan discovered that the neighborhood bar and grill (the former McNally’s) in his own neighborhood was for sale. Dan and Danielle bought it and added a brewery so Dan could have a place to brew beer, and the Pesky Pelican Brew Pub opened to neighbors and tourists alike!
