In keeping with the long tradition of women within indigenous cultures crafting fermented beverages, Seven Clans Brewing derives its name from the Seven Clans of the Cherokee. This essential societal structure is matrilineal, recognizing the inherent responsibility of women to lead their communities in times of war and peace. Cherokee women bring balance just as the clan system, each clan representing either an earthly or heavenly role, brings balance to the Cherokee way of life. Seven Clans Brewing is a majority-female indigenous owned company located in the heart of the original Cherokee homelands on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, North Carolina.
